Beaches in Tamil Nadu

1. Marina Beach

It is located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The beach is extended to a distance of 13 kilometers and it is the second-longest beach in the world. The beach has white sand and it is appraised for its busiest and cleanest beaches in India. It is famous for its Sunrise and Sunset view, kite flying for children, and pony rides and has a joggers track, skating arena, and aquarium. The sea has a strong undercurrent and is difficult so bathing or swimming is strictly prohibited.

2. Dhanushkodi Beach

Dhanuskodi beach is surrounded on one side by the Bay of Bengal and on another side by the Indian Ocean. It is 20 Km far away from the main city Rameshwaram. In the year 1964, a cyclone destroyed the whole city today what you get to see is the remaining of Dhanushkodi town. It is said that Lord Rama and Lord Hanuman constructed the bridge named “Ram Sethu” along with the army of monkeys to reach Ravana’s Lanka and rescued Mata Sita.

3. Kanyakumari Beach

Kanyakumari is situated in the southernmost part of India with its delightful bright beaches, where the three water bodies meet: the Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal, and the Indian Ocean. The miracle here is that the water of all the three seas does not mix, and you can differentiate them with their colors i.e., deep blue, turquoise blue, and sea green waters but when the day’s weather changes the watercolors also keep changing. The beach is not safe for surfing or swimming as the water is tough and it’s rocky. To enjoy its beauty you can climb up the famous lighthouse watchtower in Triveni Sangam point.

4. Mahabalipuram Beach

Locals also call it Mamallapuram, this beach is located at a distance of 58 Km from Chennai city. Rock-cut sculptures, massive rathas, caves, temples, and chariots are very famous here. This place is a superb place to relax.

To attract tourists, there is an interesting place known as a crocodile bank with 5000 crocodiles from different species. Near the beach, there are many resorts that offer a portion of delicious food for visitors. Mahabalipuram is mostly known for its temples which were constructed by the king Rajasimha of Pallavas in old times. Therefore, it is a deliberate place for tourism, a combination of history, and the best place for vacation. Every year a dance festival is organized by Tamil Nadu Tourism Government.

This beach is located in Calicut. It is also called “the turtle beach” as you can find a number of turtles on the beach. It is popular for the Olive Ridley Conservation Centre. A large number of marine birds get attracted here and mangroves are grown in the brackish water.

1. Gokarna

Gokarna beach is one of the most popular beaches in Gokarna. It gained stardom for being a surfing site. Scenic trekking excursion is famous in Gokarna. As it is located near the Mahabaleshwara Temple, the pilgrims first take a dip in the Gokarna beach before visiting the temple. Other beaches in this region you can visit are Om Beach, Half Moon Beach, Paradise Beach, and Kudle Beach. The surrounding hillocks and beautiful sights of the ocean can be seen from this beach. 2. Murudeshwara Beach
